Outdoors & Environmental Club Takes Its First Adventure
August 26th was the first Adopt-A-Highway. It went very smoothly and thank you to everyone that came out! Senior leader Caroline Kuhnert was pleased with how successful the first Adopt-A-Highway project was and she said, “Check out Hog Mountain the next time you drive by. It looks awesome!”
That same afternoon, we took a trip to Devils Fork State Park, which is on Lake Jocasee in South Carolina. There was a short hike that ended with an enjoyable swim in the lake. After a fun time swimming and enjoying , we hiked back to the campsites. We enjoyed a meal of Mrs. Durham’s famous caeser salad, chips, burgers, and hot dogs and then we drove back to Athens. Thank you to the awesome faculty—Dr. Moran, Mrs. Durham, and Mr. Sears—that made this trip possible.
It was great to have so much participation in our first evens. We look forward to an excellent year! Keep a look-out for the next Adopt-A-Highway—it’s a great way to get service hours on a Saturday! Also keep your eyes peeled for the next Outdoor Club trip!
